Skills Match approved for the Open Data Breakthrough Fund

Skills Match will bring skills data and labour market data together to enable policy-makers, practitioners, particularly careers advisers in schools and colleges, and employers to take an intelligence-led, geographically specific approach to addressing youth unemployment in London. This will act as an extension to our existing Intelligent London website, which helps to make open data accessible to policy makers. We are currently undergoing the…

Nesta – Education Open Data Challenge

We are pleased to announce that, following a successful competition entry, we have been invited to attend the creation weekend for Nesta’s Educational Open Data Challenge. Having been set the brief, our team came up with the idea for “Skills Route” which is an app that uses open data on the post-16 performance of schools and colleges in different subjects to allow parents and young people to identify providers in their area at which they are likely to achieve their goals by age 18. Skills Route shows projected grades in their chosen subjects and, in turn, the higher education options that…

EYFS Tracker at the 2013 Childcare Expo

Last week we had a great couple of days on our stall at the Childcare Expo in Coventry meeting new and existing users of the EYFS Tracker. The event was really well attended and we had lots of interest in the Tracker from schools, nurseries and childminders alike. It was also a great opportunity to meet other companies working in the childcare sector, including potential partners (as well as looking for toys for our kids!) Thanks to Broadway Events for organising such a successful event.

Tableau viz of the day

Our recent Influential Academics timeline created in Tableau for the LSE British Goverment department has been selected by Tableau as 'Viz of the Day' for Tuesday May 28th! We built the visualisation as a dashboard allowing users of the British Government section of the LSE website to explore the history of various influential academics at the School across the eras its existence. The viz contains a summary of the academics career at the LSE, along with videos and cataloged research work. It's a good example of using Tableau as a 'front end' for data in addition to it being known…
